Title: Oral history in Greater London and the South-East
Location: Bishopsgate Institute
Description: The forum will begin with talks by Richard Knight and Alan Dein on the King’s Cross Voices Oral History Project. Alan was the oral historian on the project until January 2008 and Richard is the Manager of the Camden Local Studies and Archives Centre. Alan will be talking about the recordings and the work of the project, as well as playing some of the recordings. Richard will be talking more the project more generally and about what they are doing now, including their plans to make the recordings available on the web at http://www.camden.gov.uk/kingscrossvoices.

Also:

– find out what’s happening in oral history projects and local projects.

– discuss possible new directions in oral history.

– meet activists/organisers from a wide range of history projects.

– visit the Bishopsgate Institute archives (optional).

– consider future co-ordination and collaboration of projects.
