Volunteer opportunities at the Black Cultural Archives

We have received the following announcement from the Black Cultural Archives:

Black Cultural Archives, a charity established in 1981 dedicated to collecting, preserving and celebrating black history, is looking for volunteers to help catalogue and preserve its extensive collections of historical material.

There are three part-time placements available – Archive Volunteer, Library Volunteer and Museum & Fine Art Volunteer. You will be sorting, listing and repackaging archives from our collection of papers, posters, books, prints, artefacts, newspapers and press cuttings spanning three centuries which reflect the presence of black people in Britain and the history of the African diaspora.

Volunteers must be able to attend part-time Monday-Friday for at least 6 weeks during the period September 2008 - April 2009. Travel expenses within London will be reimbursed.

For more information about the placements available and how to apply, visit our website www.bcaheritage.org.uk or contact Steven Spencer on 020 7582 8516 (steven@bcaheritage.org.uk)
